It seems that everybody who uses a DSLR takes photos using full manual exposure mode. I've tried it for a while, I guess as you gain more and more experience, you know what settings to make simply from looking at the lighting and nature of the scene. For me I find the biggest problem I have with manual exposure is it takes me too long to set up a shot.
On my 5D full manual does indeed produce better results. It's probably due to the fact that I don't really know how to use the camera's metering system, but Av and Tv tends to blow out the skies, and this can get exceedingly irritating when important parts of the scene is blown way out, beyond recovery.
The Australian dollar must have slide at least 25%
against currencies like the US, Singapore and HongKong dollars.
In a matter of weeks, overseas imports like cameras and other electrical items may be bought at a cheaper price right here in booming Western Australia, and that's with the 10% extra cost in GST. 25% drop is no laughing matter, and it may drop further if the RBA decides to drop the rate by another 25 basis points next month. So in a way it's good because I can finally stop my spending spree.
But wait, my bank hasn't reduce my home mortgage loan. So not only am I still paying the same monthly payment before the rate cut, I can't spend my hard earn money on useless luxuries.
Talk about double whammy of the worse kind.
Banks are truly evil and they exist only to make people suffer.
Embrace your ability to get more—for free. VMware Server equips you with a stable, easy to use, free virtualization platform ideal for organizations wanting to consolidate multiple servers down to few and reduce the headaches and expense of server provisioning.
That's the claim from VMWare anyway. The only word with some truth in it is free. Everything else to me is a complete lie - using this product actually gave me more headaches and makes me question
I'm trying out Google Adsense in my blog just to see how it works, it doesn't hurt if people click on the ads once in a while.
For four days I couldn't figure out why the ads aren't appearing when it seemed I have done everything right. Then it hit me, I have AdBlock on. D'oh!
Having Adsense in blogs is the worst idea google can think of. It's indexing my blogs and find ads that's relevant to my writing. The end result? All the ads shown are targeting me, and it's so hard for me to resist. I count the days till I'm banned for clicking on the ads too much.
Luckily ads I click aren't counted.
Now I need to get the Gallery2 image block to work.
The 24-105F4 seems to get sharper the longer I use it. Is the rumor that lens needs to be run in to be sharp true, or is that an urban legend?
Anyway, I shoot everything in RAW mode as it offers me the best possibility when it comes to post processing. The only problem is the 12MP RAW file is too much for my old P4 home computer to process.
The solution? I create a virtual machine on my server and run my photo editing software from the virtual machine. This actually works and I'm amazed at how far virtualisation has come.
You can see the gallery here.
Surround Sounds Nedlands was having a car park sale today. The Mrs has to vote, figured might as well drive down Stirling Highway and have a look at what bargains are available. ![]()
No expectations as I'm not expecting to spend much anyway. The plan for the day is to wake the Mrs to go vote early in the morning, then drop by the Nedlands bargain hunting, and end the day with some photography at the Rose Garden nearby.
My dad is a 2 channel enthusiast and he bought a pair of Pure Malts on the recommendation of friends. These book shelf speakers were exclusive to the Japan market until recently. Initial demand is high because of its rarity and uniqueness outside Japan, so my dad is lucky to secure a set for the first shipment.
Since he already own a decent pair of speakers, the Pure Malts ended up unused; packed and stored in the corner of the little HDB flat, waiting for me to ship it all the way back to Perth.
To be honest Pioneer is not the first brand that comes to mind when it comes to speakers, but the Japanese may have something interesting here.

Been whinging a lot lately in the DTV forums regarding my frustrations of not finding a cheap HDTV. Prices in Australia are ridiculously expensive, so much so it seems I have to fork out several months of my salary just to get one. At the end of the day the quality of most TVs on sale here just do not warrant the high ticket prices. And for the prices the panels go obsolete very quickly. OLED FTW!
This isn't really a review. If you want a proper one, google for it.
